How To Get Involved
You could perhaps start by taking a look around this website to get a feel for the place. Then if you have not joined but are thinking about it, give our Membership Secretary, John Sprague, a ring on 01548 843044. If you want it he can arrange a session for you to see how you go on as well as meeting members. There will be a charge of £10 per session which is refundable if you join. If you have already joined but want to widen your circle of opponents again give John a ring and he will do his best to help.
Out of County Members
It is important to us that OOC members feel as at home
here as they do in their home club. Many have been coming
here for years and already have a wide circle of contacts but
if you want to meet other members, please ring John and
he will put you in touch with other players.
Junior/Student Members
Juniors under 10 must be accompanied by adult member.
Junior members over the age of 10 may book the courts
and play other junior members aged 10 and over without an
accompanying adult but may not however introduce
visitors. Parents of juniors are responsible for the good
behaviour of their children.
Students (over age of 18 and in full time education) may
introduce visitors but must sign them into the visitors book
and pay the visitors fee.
Social Programme & Membership
We have an active social programme both in winter and in
summer with monthly suppers in local pubs and
restaurants, October to March, and in summer we have
barbeques on the first Tuesday of each month April to
September preceded by club tennis at 5.0 pm. We hold our
Annual Dinner and Presentation of Awards in December.
We have a Social Membership available at £10 single and
£15 for a couple for those who want to join in the fun but
don't want to play tennis.
Visitors
Visitors are welcome to play with members but must be
signed into the Visitors Book by the member and pay a fee
of £3 per visit. No visitor can play more than 3 times in a
membership year.
Matchplay and Tournaments
For the more competitively minded we run a closed tournament with a number of different events eg. mens singles, ladies singles, mens doubles, ladies doubles, mixed doubles and to give everyone a chance, both a ladies and a mixed handicap competition.
We also compete against other clubs in the South Devon Tennis League with two mixed and one mens team.
